Stargazing at Sundance

by Sarah Keech, Features Editor

PARK CITY, Utah - They call it stargazing at the Sundance Film Festival.
A crowd of people in furry coats and wearing the latest fashions huddled outside of the Village at the Lift complex Saturday afternoon waiting for a mystery celebrity to emerge.
Photographers stood jammed up against the metal barriers, hoping for a perfect shot of someone famous.
Much like a bear jam in Yellowstone National Park, some people, such as Mary Beth Miller of Indianapolis, had no idea whom they were looking for but knew it had to be someone important to draw such a big crowd.
Others whispered the person inside was film star Demi Moore.
A few of the photographers left their posts to take pictures of two other celebrities in the vicinity, former "Punky Brewster" star Soleil Moon Frye and actress Kyra Sedgwick.
"Who's that they're taking pictures of?" asked Cara Alday of Chattanooga, Tenn., while attempting to get a better look. "I could be surrounded by famous people and I wouldn't know."
Alday said she vacations in Park City each winter to ski but plans her trips to coincide with the world-famous Sundance Film Festival.
"I know the minute we leave (Demi Moore) is going to come out," Alday said.
About 20 minutes after the crowd formed, Moore emerged from Fred Segal Beauty, surrounded by security people who quickly rushed the actress away from the fans and photographers to her waiting car.
"I figure it was her. I didn't see (film star and Moore's new boyfriend) Ashton Kutcher. Just her," said Todd Snyder, a stargazer from New York City.
